Talking of rockin' - well how good are The Senton Bombs. On the evidence of this gig - very fuckin'; good indeed and everything I deemed they were capable of came to fruition here despite the odd drumming blip the set was a hammer blow to the skull and perhaps the most disjointed looking band of the 3 days produced one of the best sets. Grappling rock punk that grips the nuts and makes the eyes water with the grinding rhythms and red hot riffs. It was great to get them a good crowd to blast to and they did it with precocious ease. I have great faith in this outfit and hopefully they can get some real credit for all their talent. 'My Girlfriend Was A Nazi' buzzed and of course the Rancid cover opened ears - brilliant.

These bad boys came all the way from BLACKPOOL to play tonight! I hope the journey was as worthwhile for them as it was for those of us lucky enough to witness their set. They play loud, they play fast, the play for keeps and they have fun doing it. Their MySpace page describes them as "HIGH FLYING, PILEDRIVING, FIST CLENCHING, BONE CRUNCHING, BACK BREAKING, STAGE SHAKING PUNK INFECTED ROCK N ROLL STRAIGHT OUT OF A STEEL CAGE IN BISPHAM F'N BLACKPOOL..!!!” Who am I to disagree!!! They make Motorhead sound like a band that play at tea dances! An adrenaline fuelled trio consisting of Joey Class (BASS, VOX and Cool Shades); Diabolo Damien Kage (GUITAR & WAHS!) and Mason Mohawk (DRUMS), The Senton Bombs are well worth a listen check them out on MySpace - www.myspace.com/thesentonbombs  better still if they come to venue near you GO AND SEE THEM! A great band that do what they do for the right reasons and are genuinely nice bunch of lads. And if proof was need of their dedication to the cause, last night (19th) the were gigging in Blackpool, tonight (20th) they graced Cambridge with their presence and tomorrow (21st) they’re appearing at a SAS Event for Fungal Punk in Bradford!

The Senton Bombs are fuckin' ace. I adore what they do and if one band are sorely misjudged and overlooked then it is these three 'erberts who again are difficult to categorise (unless you subscribe to the 'Wrestle Punk' ethos) and suffer as a consequence. Shame on all scenes for not embracing this crew but I am sure with a few prods and pokes here and there the SB machine may just start getting its true rewards. From first to last this was highly enjoyable and despite the guitarist Damien saying he was far from on top form (the hazards of being a perfectionist and ever willing pisspot) I still adored this grapplefest of buzzing bomb blasts. In fact my entire family always enjoy this crew and my young lass nodded her tired head in appreciation and gave me a confident thumbs up. 'Buy Me A Gun' is my fave and ' My Girlfriend Was A Nazi' is my daughter’s fave and my wife just simply stated that these were the best band of the night. If ever a band was worthy of my utter attention then these are the boys. Just remember whilst you are reading this lads that anything the Fungal bugger can help you with just holler. One of the joys of being a promoter is dealing with bands of this ilk - and to think the first time I saw them I was unconvinced. Just goes to show one viewing is never enough!

The Senton Bombs are great - full stop. That could be the review - honestly - I think they are awesome and they always make me feel more positive towards the scene and get me to re-dig my heels in. Why? Because this band is being sold short due to the fact that they don't fit tidily into any old pigeonhole. The music has an exciting edge and thunders from 3 corners of the room and explodes on centre impact. Again all songs roar for me and the way the band execute each number is a sight to behold. If they want gigs they can have em - simple as.

I saw these guys for the first time when they played at a Viva La Local event in Cambridge earlier in the year and I was mightily impressed by the trio as they were then and tonight as a four piece? They were better than Cambridge. The Vocalist is pure Class, Mr Mohawk plays as if the salvation of his soul depends on it, Damien has sold his to el diabalo and the new Johnny on the block, the mighty mustachiod one, can melt a fretboard with the best of them. A great band, a great performance and a great bunch of lads. Now in possession of a copy of SWEET CHIN MUSIC I feel another review coming on.
Another of my bands of the day.

The Senton Bombs steamrolled forth and really reinforced my belief that this is an outfit who are a cut above and really do intermingle a variety of styles and come out with an individual powerhouse racket. Slamming riffology, grooving inflection and hustle-o-rama attitude, the SB fighting machine just lets you have it - full fuckin' tilt. The band now have a new guitarist and that is the final icing on the cake which I hope many more punters will be partaking of over the coming year. There is a strict ethos here that will not be swayed into producing regular orthodox tuneage that will meet the needs of the metal heads or the punk tops. The Senton Bombs do it their way only, and I am happy to be classed as a fan. Beltin' stuff and another band I hope to help push further to the fore for thy pleasure - peel those eyes dudes.

Next and some rhythmic rockin' and rollin' 'erberts who are indeed some of the best chaps I have met.  A great chinwag beforehand covered many topics such as Marvel Superheroes, nervous tics, the scene, the guitarist’s forthcoming sprog, relationships and Joey's impending breast implants (all great stuff).  Apparently Joey wants to be a real bitch and get down and raise some money for the local grappling hermaphrodite community from were he was raised as a budding jumping jive ass (yes I know it didn't make sense to me either but still, what a nice chap).    And to the set - well what a fuckin' grand do!  Stringwise this was a pure masterclass with another two guitarists really turning on the style and grooving up some choice riffage that was just purely delicious.  Frontman Joey controlled bass duties as well as sneering out an oral performance that was sung rather than shouted and had thought rather than abandon.  The drums once more caught my eye with that fuckin' great chap Mason producing a stormer and brutally issuing out one helluva lesson to his chosen tubs - feel the pain you bastards, feel it.  In turn I watched each and every player and with hand on heart I can say this was just beautiful.  'Jersey Dolls' stunk of real sound wonder and all the tracks from the new album are sounding real mean stuff as well.  Faultless and yes I want more and I reckon Bradford will too.

A slurp and then a good chat with those perennial faves The Senton Bombs whom, as it transpired, were up next.  This is the band I came to see and one whom I prodded towards this gig with the hope of them making a few new contacts primarily through that fine 'erbert, gig organiser and frontman of the headline band Matt Franklin.  The Bombs are indeed a class act but, as with numerous outfits, have fell victim to getting ensnared in a punk rock loop that in some ways has helped them along and in others has hindered them.  The members are aware of this and after a short break are keen to get back gigging and spreading their word in as many fruitful directions as possible.  Tonight they slipped into their groove easily with a good opening burst that was slightly affected by a somewhat unsettled sound but 'The Experiment' turned things up another fine notch and although still a bit too bassed up the band started rolling hard and riffed along with a subtle intensity.  The 3rd track off their new 'taster' CD pursued and had the necessary intensity and then came the bands 'song of the moment' with 'Do Your Job' pumping hard but being let down by a echoed sound and a minor guitar blip that was just ‘one of those’.  Still a solid number and the band raced through it, re-aligned and set about closing this short set in quality style.  'Superkick' and 'The Retire' helped all noisy aspects to grow in stature and the onlookers seemed quite taken by the delivery and professionalism of the band.  Great finishing salvo and here's to more Bombtastic Sentonisation.

The Senton Bombs are an outfit I have been pondering now for a goodly while and are a crew whom I have told people about over and over again. Their fourth trip to Manchester and would it be a deflation or inflation as regards their potential, standing and overall delivery. Personally I expected something special and I was not to be disappointed. What a fuckin' performance - talk about nailing it! The Bombs excelled tonight and were aided by a sound that gave them the best treatment of the lot and seemed to compliment their racket making more than any of the bands to follow. Of course due to the band being more rock orientated a few of the pickier punks were not thoroughly taken but those with more eclectic vibes within their soul fuckin' loved it hence the good feedback and CD sales after the show. The main ingredient tonight was that the band totally and utterly went for it and plied their trade with passion and belief and sexually screwed around with their chosen noise making weapons and let us all...have it. Both 6 string deviants manipulated their armoury into orgasmic highs, Joey at the fore caressed his bass with expert hands and frothed up a real cockrock vocal style that dripped with saturated relish and cool dude vigour. Mason on the sticks is a sight to behold when hammering away with intensity and surely if he carries on his drumming skills will gain due acclaim. Each and every song pulsated, rocked with identifiable spirit and swaggered with yet another new found understanding of how to rock out! Marvellous and rather than pick out one or two tunes I recommend the whole fuckin' lot has a treat to be savoured. The bands best showing by far and a long way from the days when I very much doubted them as a unit. Even though I had that initial doubt I still gave them a gig because I believed something was there - sometimes it is nice to be proved right - thanks lads!

"One of the finest live bands" is a hackneyed expression and yet every now and again it is the most apt and accurate one to use and that is the case in relation to THE SENTON BOMBS

Sons of Lancashire's premier seaside resort - this rather tasty example of Blackpool Rock has quality written through its centre. These boys grabbed the Cock Inn both hands and shook it to its very foundation with a high energy orgy of guitar based infused punky rock n roll.
This Lancashire Hotpot of masterful musicianship laddled out portion after portion of top draw rock. Ballistic bass lines, pounding drum beats, gloriously grungy guitars and a vocal delivery that sounds more West Coast USA than UK had the Cock crowd transfixed and in awe. Every song was a pearl! The set was drawn mainly fron the bands second CD - GAMBIT and the new album which is due for release in the very hear future - my advice would be get yer hands on a copy as soon as it is released! Passion and enjoyment oozed from every note and they played to the crowd with some mighty fine hard rock posing which would not be out of place in any large arena - and with the abundent smoke and lightening rig you could almost imagine you were at one of the major stadiums rather than the lounge bar of a village pub.

If there was one slight criticism it would be that the guitars were a little too loud and down a notch would have brought a better overall balance as on occasion the bass would fade from hearing, but I get the feeling Joey always has work cut out controlling these axe masters as they ply their trade with such dexterity and power! There were a couple of technical hitches which threatened to make life interesting but both were resolved by turning things off and on and wiggling cables! Percussive Maintenance was not required on this occasion!

Joey (Bass & Vox), Scott (Drums) and the guitar twins Johnny and Damien - take a bow my friends. It would be safe to say this bomb exploded and left an indelible impression on the good folk of Hanslope! Don't take my word for it check this out

How To Close A Show

How do you follow that - one of the best live sets I have witnessed for a while - well you put on one of those one off events that only come along very rarely in a life time and those of us lucky enough to be the Cock Inn on this particular Saturday night will be able to say - thank fuck for that! Ha Ha - Kidding Guys!
